This month’s updates are focused on making your day-to-day work easier. We’re refreshing the Land App interface to improve accessibility and reduce clutter, introducing map ownership transfers for smoother project handoffs, and adding new flood risk data to our growing library of layers. Here’s what’s new.

All User Updates

Transfer Map Ownership

One of your most requested features is finally here. Map owners, team admins, or organisation admins can now transfer ownership to anyone who already has access (existing collaborators, team members, or organisation admins). The transfer happens immediately, and the new owner is notified by email when they next open the map.

What happens to access depends on where you’re transferring:

  • Within your organisation: Team tags stay intact, so if the original owner is part of those teams, they keep their access. You’re simply changing who’s responsible for the map while maintaining team collaboration exactly as it was.
  • Outside your organisation or to a free user: Team tags are removed, but the original owner is automatically added as a collaborator to retain access. The new owner can remove them if needed. Published plans remain on your organisation’s map of maps, though they’ll be removed if all of your organisation’s team members are removed from the map.
  • Additional improvements to map visibility: Map owners now see their maps even if they don’t have the team tag for them, making it easier to maintain visibility of projects you’re responsible for. We’ve also updated the layout of sharing settings to make managing permissions and transfers clearer and more intuitive.

A fresh look

On 18 February 2026, we launched a comprehensive refresh of the user interface.  Built directly from your feedback, the changes are designed to help you work faster and reduce the friction in your daily workflows.

Old user interface versus new

What’s improved:

  • Streamlined layouts: We’ve cleaned up the plans list, improved the sharing modal, optimised the printing flow, and tidied up account settings. These are all designed to reduce clicks, speed up common tasks, and help you find what you need faster.
  • More accessible colours: We’ve refined our vibrant colour palette to ensure better contrast and legibility for all users, including those with visual impairments or dyslexia.
  • Clearer typography: A dual-font system brings Axiforma for headlines (personality and hierarchy) and Inter for functional text (ultimate readability).
  • Lighter iconography: We’ve switched from filled to outline icons to reduce visual density and keep your maps front and centre.

What hasn’t changed: Your workflows remain exactly the same. All tools are in the same locations, your data is untouched, and the way you create plans, add layers, share with collaborators, and print maps follows the same steps. This is purely a visual and usability enhancement.

The changes are live across the entire platform now. We’ve designed this refresh to feel immediately familiar while delivering noticeable improvements that compound over time.

Also new this month

New flood risk data layer

We’ve added the Environment Agency’s Risk of Flooding from Surface Water dataset, showing where flooding may occur when rainwater doesn’t drain through normal systems. The data includes flooding extents and depths across high, medium, and low risk categories, making it an essential overlay for site selection and planning applications.

This complements our existing flood risk layers to give you a more complete picture of water-related hazards.

Integration API updates (Professional Users)

Using our Integration API, you can now fetch all maps and team tags for your organisation. This enables better automation and integration with your existing workflows and systems. Read our help guidance for implementation details.

Missed January’s updates?

Last month, we expanded coverage across Wales and Scotland with over a dozen new data layers, added regional map filters, and launched Land Registry title purchases for Professional users. Read the full January Product Update to see what’s new.
