Land is finite. How we decide to use this precious resource is fundamental to sustaining all life on Earth.

Introduction to Land App

Land App is a digital mapping platform designed to help land managers improve the quality of their land management and access support and funding to make that transition. The platform was founded by Tim Hopkin, who was unable to plan the implementation of a regenerative agriculture and rewilding plan on his farm 12 years ago.

Our mission from the beginning has been to transform the way land is managed and support the transition to best practices in land management globally, using a systems approach. We work with land managers, advisors, facilitators, food retailers, water companies, funders, and government.

Land App is a mission-led company, aiming to contribute toward solving the biggest crises of our generation: the unprecedented decline in global biodiversity and its impact on the climate. In order to do this, we take a systems approach, focussing on how we can help unlock nature recovery at speed and scale.  Land App enables land managers, farmers, food retailers, water companies government to create a “digital twin” of their land, understand and analyse its current state in nature and collaboratively design solutions to create ecological and financial resilience. Green finance and natural capital markets must be underpinned by accurate mapping, insightful land use analysis and robust data, all whilst linking land managers on the ground to the critical funding they need to transition to sustainable land use. Land App does precisely this, and our employees are passionate about creating real change and contributing to this much-needed systems change.

At present, Land App has 17,000+ users, with over 8,000,000 hectares of land mapped out using the software. It currently serves the needs of UK based land managers, and is used widely for government scheme applications, such as Countryside Stewardship and Sustainable Farming Incentive, as well as bigger projects such as Landscape Recovery. We now have a beta mobile app (with an improved version in development), as well as sophisticated analysis dashboards which enable users to unlock natural capital funding. These include a Biodiversity Net Gain calculator, Nutrient Neutrality and a Habitat Connectivity scorer. As the demands of land managers and natural capital markets grow, we are developing the product to match it. This is an exciting time to join the team and take Land App to the next level both nationally, and eventually, internationally.

We are a dynamic and driven team who are aligned with our mission of trying to help people achieve smart land use and the best outcomes for people and planet. Not only does this environment foster good team cohesion, but we believe in spending time in the outdoors that we’re ultimately trying to protect. We work remotely, with the potential of flexibility, so our team can access the spaces they enjoy the most. This strikes a balance of our people thriving in both a professional and personal capacity.

We are always interested to hear from driven and passionate individuals who think they would be a good addition to our team, and encourage people to get in touch.
